Now, back in the reality that always lies in wait among the shadows of the Ensanche quarter, the enchantment was lifting, and all I had was painful desire and an indescribable restlessness.

About This Quote

In the reality that always lies in wait among the shadows of the Ensanche quarter, the enchantment was lifting, and all I had was painful desire and an indescribable restlessness. The reality is that many of us live in a world where there are no guarantees of what is going to happen next. A person’s life can be an endless cycle of bad choices and good luck. There is no telling when we will meet our future spouse or what we will find when we open up a book and start reading it.

But this quote has a special meaning for me. I grew up in a small town where people knew everyone’s business and gossip flowed freely. I always felt that there was something magical about just being alive in my hometown.

There were no surprises or adventures to be had, but at least one could walk down the street without worrying about someone taking their photo with you or getting into an accident with you. While my mind is still set on moving out of my hometown, I am realizing how much I miss the simplicity of life there.
